Be someone's inspiration!

Yesterday had been one of those busy days, right from the get go - phones ringing, school drop off, making lunches, MIL dropping in, etc etc.
But then in amongst all the crazy I had a client meeting with a talented and inspiring lady who had unknowingly left behind some of her amazing confidence and self-awareness with me.

After our meeting I realised something, I'm good at what I do and I shouldn't down play it. Some may think that's arrogant, or self-involved but what if not being afraid to show people how awesome you are, and believing it, proving it, is what the world needs more of.

So with a more focused view of what I'm capable of, I watched the man leave for work, and thought about how much sewing I have to do, and only 2 hours of free time before I had school pickup. I was scrolling through my newsfeed as I made my way to the sewing room and noticed my creatively amazing friend at Sunshine Adore was having an open day. So instead of sewing I decided to do something I don't normally do, I left the sewing behind and jumped in the car and drove out to Sunshine Adore, kid free, and had an inspirational chat. Armed with a camera and my newly acquired wisdom, I took the afternoon and reveled in the gorgeous space Katrina has created for herself.
I didn't want to leave. The funny thing was, as I was so inspired by a client earlier in the day, I too had inspired Katrina through my blog post about time, you can read it here.

Inspiration is everywhere and we should believe in who we are and what we do, because you just don't know who else might just be inspired by you!

Knitting & Crochet Patterns

These last few months has seen Dark Daisy Handmade venture into the world of  digital media and pdf  patterns.

I have created my first pdf pattern in the form of a simple and easy to make Chunky Crochet Coaster pattern - which is available here for free! I have since finished off a handful of patterns and and e-book. All of which are available from our website here

I've been a lover of knitting, crochet and sewing for as long as I can remember and I thought it was about time to share some of the things I've learnt over the years.  I've endeavored to make my pdf's as easy to read as possible and are suitable for beginners and experienced crafters alike.

You can find DDH's pdf patterns or right here on our website.

I will be setting up a group via facebook so you all can share your pictures and projects made using DDH pdf patterns.

I hope you all get a chance to rest over the school holidays and I look forward to bringing you loads more fun pdf patterns!

WHY BAGS? I SAY WHY NOT BAGS!

WHY BAGS? I SAY WHY NOT BAGS!

I get asked this question often and there's a really simple answer...I love accessories.  I'm a firm believer in the idea of a basic, inexpensive outfit can be enhanced and changed its basic potential to amazing and fashion forward with the use of the right accessories.

Not only should a handbag add to your outfit, it should be functional; so many don't fill those two important requirements.  A handbag, clutch or purse is the ultimate accessory.  A perfectly matched ensemble of handbag, hat, shoes & even gloves can give you a classic, timeless look.  Or a bold print can with a simple look will have you strutting your stuff with the best of the hipsters.
Though elegance is not to be overlooked in any case.  A well made handbag or purse can be the same as a tailored designer outfit.

So why bags? I say why not bags!

Shoes will wear out.  Sunglasses will scratch.  Hats will fade.  Jewellery will loose its lustre.  Even clothes pass in and out of our lives at an alarming rate these days.  But that perfect Handbag, or just the right size Clutch, or the print you just couldn't leave behind will stay with you a lot longer than you might think.
We all get the urge to restyle our closets, some a lot, others more sporadic, but either way the bags & purses, clutches and festival bags you have accumulated over the years will no doubt stay the same, usually growing in number every year.
